Robert Plant fell in love with Morocco when he discovered the kingdom in the 1970s.

Very inspired by the country’s culture and music, Moroccan influences can be found in some of his songs, including one of his personal favorite creations.

In a recent interview with American _Vulture_ magazine, the charismatic singer of legendary rock band Led Zeppelin confided that the “most powerful” song to play live, in his eyes, was undoubtedly “Embrace another fall,” from his solo album released in 2014, Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar.

This song is indeed marked by many African and more specifically Moroccan musical influences with sounds, rhythms and instruments typical of local music.

To this end, Plant explains in this exchange to be a long-time admirer of North African music, since the 1970s, when he discovered Morocco, a country where he regularly spends time and looks for inspiration.

“I have always spent time in North Africa. I’ll sit in a corner away, in the shade, and I listen to life go by, the musicians moving around in the cafes”, explained Plant, referring in particular to the street musicians “who play a sort of inverted cymbal which they bounce on their knees and play with the handle facing the spectator”. “It’s another way of doing everything,” he added.

“As time passed, I became more and more inspired by that,” he continues, recalling in passing the years 1971 and 1972, when he brought “Jimmy” (Jimmy Page, the guitarist of Led Zeppelin) into southern Morocco to work on the Led Zeppelin classic “Kashmir”.

“I brought the whole thing home with “Embrace Another Fall,” because I’ve taken elements of everything that I loved on that trip,” he concludes.
