Moroccan club Maghreb Fez secured qualification for the CAF Champions League group stage after defeating Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas 2-1 in Abidjan on Sunday, October 25, thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Khalid Baba.

The second-leg encounter of the competition’s second preliminary round took place at the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, where both teams exchanged attacking opportunities during a goalless first half.

ASEC Mimosas broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute through Bakary Kevin, putting the Moroccan visitors under pressure as the hosts sought to defend their advantage.

Maghreb Fez responded ten minutes later when Congolese striker Christopher Ibayi equalized in the 73rd minute, restoring parity and keeping the Moroccan side’s qualification hopes alive.

With the match approaching its conclusion, Maghreb Fez continued pushing forward in search of a decisive goal.

Their persistence paid off in the seventh minute of stoppage time when Khalid Baba found the net, completing the comeback and securing a 2-1 away victory.

The result sends Maghreb Fez into the CAF Champions League group stage following a dramatic finish in the Ivorian capital.
