The Association of the Bar Associations of Morocco’s executive office has decided to continue its months-long strike in protest of provisions in Law 66.23 regulating the legal profession.

The decision was taken Thursday during a meeting of the association’s executive office, as lawyers continue to oppose provisions they say affect the practice of the profession.

During a press conference Thursday evening addressing the course of the dispute over the profession law, association President Hussein Zayani was asked whether the strike would be extended.

“Yes, the stoppage continues,” Zayani said, confirming that the strike would remain in place.

The association’s office is scheduled to meet again on Sept. 20 to assess the situation and decide on further steps.
