Police in the southern Moroccan city of Inzegane arrested three people on Friday, November 6, on suspicion of luring a 16-year-old girl, sexually assaulting her, and providing her with narcotic substances, according to the National Security Directorate (DGSN).
The arrests followed an investigation launched after the girl’s mother reported her disappearance under suspicious circumstances to police in Inzegane.
The case took a turn when the girl’s sister arrived at a police station accompanied by three people who said they had found the teenager in a public area in the nearby city of Ait Melloul. The girl was reportedly in a heavily intoxicated state and was taken to hospital for medical treatment and examinations.
Investigations, supported by technical expertise, subsequently raised suspicions about the three individuals who had initially reported finding her.
Police suspect the three lured the girl and transported her in a rental car hired by one of them, driving through several streets before taking her to an isolated location in the Qliaa area, near Ait Melloul.
According to preliminary findings, the girl was allegedly given narcotic substances before one of the suspects sexually assaulted her. The allegations remain under investigation.
The three suspects were placed in police custody as part of an investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office. Investigators are seeking to establish the circumstances of the case and determine the alleged role of each individual.
Meanwhile, a unit specializing in support for women victims of violence has been assigned to provide the minor with the necessary assistance.
