New complaints have emerged against a Casablanca-based businesswoman in the currency exchange sector, who is under investigation by the public prosecutor for fraud, embezzlement, and breach of trust.
Judicial sources told Hespress AR that the investigating judge at the Ain Sebaa Criminal Court recently questioned several new victims during detailed hearings. Among them were four individuals, including three French citizens of Moroccan descent.
The sources said the victims alleged they had fallen prey to a currency exchange network led by the woman and other accomplices, including her husband, who remains at large.
Data obtained by Hespress indicate that the number of victims continues to rise. Complaints keep reaching the public prosecutor’s office, which has ordered a deeper investigation into the fraud and embezzlement claims to identify all parties involved.
Victims include Moroccans, French and British nationals, and a Syrian investor who claimed he was defrauded of 5 million dirhams (approximately $500,000). According to the investor, the accused and her husband recruited him as a partner in a currency exchange office but failed to honor the agreement, leaving him and others defrauded.
Testimonies collected by law enforcement and the investigating judge indicate that the total sums involved in the alleged fraud amount to billions of Moroccan centimes. The businesswoman is currently under judicial supervision while the investigation continues.
