Morocco took part in an international operation involving 30 countries that identified more than $39 billion in funds and cryptocurrencies linked to fraudulent activities, the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Interior said.
The operation, dubbed “Confrontation Ghost,” ran from July 1 to Sept. 30, 2026, under the leadership of the UAE Ministry of Interior, in coordination with INTERPOL and private-sector partners. It targeted cross-border digital fraud networks, including those exploiting artificial intelligence, financial transactions and online sexual extortion.
The results were presented on Oct. 22 in Vienna, Austria, during the 13th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime. Authorities from participating countries and their partners are now working to recover the identified assets.
During the three-month operation, more than 15,500 victims and 3,500 suspects were identified, according to the UAE Ministry of Interior. The operation also led to more than 960 arrests, searches at 29 fraud centers and the closure of more than 570 social media accounts used for criminal purposes.
Authorities also identified more than 4,126 bank accounts linked to the activities.
The operation brought together 30 countries across five continents and 13 private-sector partners, including Meta, TikTok, Huawei, Mastercard and Crypto.com.
More than 9,000 pieces of intelligence were exchanged among participants to help identify how criminal networks deceive victims and launder money across borders.
