Moroccan prosecutors have imposed a travel ban on nutritionist and YouTuber Mohamed Faid, who faces criminal charges over controversial public statements, judicial sources told Hespress on Wednesday.

The decision followed Faid’s appearance before the public prosecutor at the Benslimane Court of First Instance, after an investigation conducted by the National Judicial Police Brigade.

Faid faces charges including incitement to hatred, insulting Islam, defamation targeting women on the basis of gender, and incitement to commit a felony.

Prosecutors decided to pursue the case while allowing him to remain free pending trial. His first court hearing is scheduled for Monday, November 9.

Faid had been brought before prosecutors earlier Wednesday following questioning over statements allegedly containing offensive remarks directed at religious institutions and established religious principles.
