Mohammedia’s governor has requested clarification from the city’s municipal council president, Hicham Aït Menna, following his recent comments about the prevalence of horse-drawn carts in the city.
During an October council meeting, Aït Menna stated that a FIFA inspection team, visiting Bachir Stadium to prepare for the 2030 World Cup, nearly got into an accident with one of these carts upon leaving the stadium, Hespress sources noted.
Aït Menna’s statement, made during an October council meeting, drew criticism from local authorities, who reminded him of his responsibility as head of municipal police under law 113.14.
Despite a prior council decision to ban the carts, authorities noted that Aït Menna had not requested official intervention to enforce the ban, as permitted under law 108, which allows municipal leaders to seek assistance from public forces to uphold such regulations.
