FIFA will inspect proposed stadiums and host cities across Morocco, Spain and Portugal in November and December as preparations for the 2030 World Cup enter a decisive phase.
The international football governing body announced Tuesday that inspection teams would assess venues in all three countries to determine whether they meet the technical and organizational requirements for hosting tournament matches.
In Morocco, the inspections will cover Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech, Agadir and Fes.
The visits come as Morocco and Spain compete to host the World Cup final, with FIFA yet to announce which stadium will stage the tournament’s biggest match.
Portugal’s proposed venues in Lisbon and Porto will also be inspected, alongside Spanish candidate cities including Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Bilbao, San Sebastián, Zaragoza and Las Palmas.
FIFA said additional venues could be included in the inspection program as the evaluation proceeds.
The final selection of stadiums and host cities remains pending, while decisions on match allocations and the categories of fixtures assigned to each venue will follow once the tournament schedule is finalized.
The 2030 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, with three centenary celebration matches taking place in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay to mark 100 years since the inaugural tournament in Uruguay in 1930.
