Despite the challenges posed by drought and a decline in agricultural production, the wholesale market for vegetables and fruits in Casablanca, known as “Marche Creo,” has continued to flourish.
The market’s total value increased by 12% to 118.4 million dirhams in the current year, primarily due to increased sales volume and stable prices.
Over the past decade, the market has experienced significant growth, with sales volume increasing by 28% from 1.2 million tons in 2014 to 1.53 million tons in the current year.
Market revenues have soared by 52% during the same period, reaching a record high of 175 million dirhams.
To support the market’s continued growth and development, the Casablanca City Council is considering amendments to its delegation agreement with the local development company “Casablanca Services.”
The proposed amendments include an increased management fee for the company and a commitment from the city council to provide sufficient staff to ensure the market’s smooth operation.
