An international smuggling network, with help from the Polisario in the unstable Tindouf camps, has kidnapped a Sahrawi girl for a Spanish family, as reported by Forsatin.

The Polisario, losing control, is accused of teaming up with the kidnapper for this operation, involving a significant payment.

The kidnapper, with a criminal history, took advantage of the girl’s visit to her biological family in the camps. The girl’s mother reportedly destroyed her documents and passport to prevent her return to the Spanish family with whom she was residing.

As the Spanish family intensified their efforts to recover the girl, the Polisario leadership reportedly intervened, expediting the necessary permits for the kidnapper to smuggle the girl from the Tindouf camps to Oran.

On January 3rd, during a wedding ceremony when the family was preoccupied, the alleged kidnapper successfully carried out the abduction.

The girl, born in 2006, was then swiftly transported from Tindouf to Oran by plane. Following the revelation of the kidnapping plot, authorities decided to transfer the girl to the Spanish consulate in Oran, where she is currently being held until the arrival of a lawyer who will accompany her to Spain.

When the girl’s biological relatives discovered she was missing, they alerted Algerian security authorities.

Currently, efforts are underway to bring the girl back to the Tindouf camps against her will. The girl refuses to return, and her relatives are threatening the kidnapper’s family, blaming him for her abduction.

This incident sheds light on a broader issue within the Tindouf camps, as it is not the first case of its kind.

Over 150 other girls are reported to be held against their will within the camps, allegedly orchestrated by their families under the direction of the Polisario, engaging in child trafficking.

The families are coerced to retain the children or hide them, with the Polisario later extorting adoptive foreign families for financial support in exchange for the children’s return.

The Polisario is then accused of orchestrating the kidnapping of these children from their original families, only to return them after their demands are met.

Various reports from institutions, including the European Parliament, have gathered complaints from Sahrawis regarding their living conditions.

The complaints draw attention to issues like restricted freedom of movement, expression, and assembly, as well as shortages of food, water, medicine, and gasoline – basic necessities for a decent life.

Dissident movements, opposing the Polisario, have consistently spoken out against the worsening conditions in Tindouf.

The situation is not only alarming due to extreme circumstances but also because of the limited presence and insufficient role of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

This leaves tens of thousands of people, particularly women and children, without adequate protection and assistance
