Moroccan twins Ismail and Malik El Karni won the men’s doubles category for athletes aged 16 to 24 at HYROX Abu Dhabi 2026 last weekend, finishing in 58 minutes and 45 seconds.
Despite holding French, British, and Mexican citizenship, the brothers competed under the Moroccan flag, finishing eighth overall in the men’s doubles competition and recording the fastest Moroccan time in their age group, according to HYRESULT, a platform specializing in HYROX results.
On the same day, the twins also took part in the men’s relay, finishing third in 59 minutes and 42 seconds as part of a four-member team alongside Moroccan athlete Oussama Bachina and Emirati athlete Mohammed Al Mousabi.
HYROX combines running with strength and endurance exercises, making two races in one day a demanding challenge.
The twins improved their time by more than seven minutes compared with their previous participation in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, last April, breaking the one-hour mark to achieve their personal best.
With this double achievement, Ismail and Malik El Karni are emerging as promising competitors in the fast-growing sport of HYROX, as they aim for more success in upcoming international competitions under the Moroccan flag.
