New Casablanca tramway lines launch delayed

New Casablanca tramway lines launch delayed
Friday 1 September 2023 - 19:56

The launch of tram lines three and four in Casablanca is expected to be delayed beyond previous projections, with sources from the city now indicating that the tram service will not commence until the summer of the following year, rather than the end of the current year as previously stated by city officials.

The Casablanca Transport Company, responsible for managing the sector, previously anticipated the completion of the tram network, totaling 47 kilometers across the city, by the end of 2023, including all stations.

But a source within the city municipality told Hespress that construction work is set to continue until June of the following year.

The current municipal council is closely monitoring the projects and overseeing the work of the companies involved to expedite the process, the same source noted, a practice not previously in place, contributing to the delay.

The construction of these tramlines has caused major road closures and disruptions to traffic in Casablanca, affecting residents.
