The chaos that broke out during a live show by rapper 7ari this weekend in Rabat was caused by “organizational issues due to lack of security compared to the venue’s capacity,” the rapper’s manager told Hespress.
The same source stressed that the venue was overcrowded, with spectators easily able to reach the stage.
Additionally, 7ari’s manager noted that international rapper L’artiste was also slotted to appear on stage, but refrained due to lax security and to “not put himself in a place that does not suit him.”
The same source explained that 7ari sang for forty-five minutes, contrary to what was rumored, adding that the concert hall was overcrowded, which caused the Moroccan rapper to leave without taking any pictures with the audience fearing for his life.
The artist then headed to a second concert that was scheduled for the same night at the Mohammedia School of Engineers in Rabat, stressing that it went smoothly and was successful by all means.
Hespress sources stated yesterday that the rapper took to the stage at 9pm despite being scheduled to appear 7 hours prior, and only performed for a half hour as opposed to the hour that was allegedly previously agreed upon.
Video footage seen by Hespress shows the rapper riling up the crowd and encouraging fans who were outside of the venue to crash the concert for free, claiming that he will reimburse the venue. 7ari then allegedly requested a break, before leaving hastily accompanied by his team.
The same source emphasized that the chaos caused material damages, in addition to two attendees who lost their cell phones to theft.
Additionally, the source noted that rap star L’artiste was also expected to appear on stage, but an alleged fight with 7ari’s manager prevented him from showing up.
L’artiste previously invited 7ari as his surprise guest when he performed at the very successful Rabat’s Grand Concert.
7ari took that occasion to announce releasing an album in front of thousands of fans.
His manager explained to Hespress that the rapper did not receive the agreed-upon paycheck in full, and refused to comment on the problem he faced at the ceremony due to lack of security, or to pursue any legal procedures with the organizers, “because he is a an unproblematic person who wants to perform and amuse his fans.”
Regarding the dispute between him and L’artiste, the manager said that it’s not true, as the two artists share a very good friendship.
“He backed down (from joining the concert), fearing for his safety and for not wanting to put himself in a place that does not suit him,” explained Karim.
