Three brothers surrendered to Morocco’s Royal Gendarmerie after allegedly killing a man in his 50s and disposing of his body in a remote area of Chichaoua province, local media reported Thursday.
The incident occurred in the rural commune of Mejjat, where the brothers are suspected of attacking the victim inside their family home before transporting his body to an isolated location.
According to local sources cited by Kech24 and Marrakech Al Aan, the alleged killing followed suspicions about a possible romantic relationship between the victim and the brothers’ widowed mother.
The man reportedly visited the family home regularly, prompting questions among the brothers about the nature of his relationship with their mother.
The circumstances of the alleged relationship and its role in the killing have not been independently established.
Following the incident, the three brothers reportedly went voluntarily to the Royal Gendarmerie station in Mejjat, where they admitted involvement in the killing, according to the local reports.
Information provided by the suspects reportedly helped investigators locate the victim’s body.
The Royal Gendarmerie has opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to establish the circumstances of the death and determine the criminal responsibility of those involved.
