Morocco is approaching further decisive developments in the Sahara dispute, Economy and Finance Minister Fouzi Lekjaa said during a parliamentary session devoted to the government’s response to discussions on the 2027 Finance Bill.
Lekjaa said Moroccans would mark Unity Day on October 31 as the country awaited decisions he described as crucial to the future of the Sahara issue.
He hailed what he called a victory for Morocco’s territorial integrity under King Mohammed VI’s leadership.
The minister said UN Security Council Resolution 2797, adopted in October 2025, had established Morocco’s autonomy proposal as the sole basis for resolving the dispute.
The resolution calls for negotiations based on Morocco’s autonomy initiative while retaining the objective of a mutually acceptable political settlement.
