Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, a prominent member of the separatist group Polisario is under international scrutiny, following his son’s inauguration of a new clinic equipped with the latest technologies in Ecuador.
The Sahrawi Association for the Defense of Human Rights accuses Ould Salek of having financed the establishment of the clinic, his second in addition to the one he owns in Panama, through the embezzlement of humanitarian aid intended for the population of the Tindouf camps.
The Support Forum for the Autonomists of Tindouf (FORSATIN) said it is now time to focus on the real destination of “the Algerian people’s money,” which they said is mainly used “for the enrichment of the members of the Polisario leadership and their families, not to improve the lives of refugee and inhabitants of the Tindouf camps.”
“It is to be noted that all those medical devices were supposed to be given as humanitarian aid to the camps,” claims the FORSATIN in a recent statement, adding that instead, “they were smuggled abroad, sold or transferred to the private projects of Polisario’s leadership illegally, and through fake companies affiliated to the Polisario totalitarian regime.”
