Moroccan Royal Air Forces approved the installation of the country’s first Ground Master 400 radar from French aerospace manufacturer, Thales Group. The installation marks the company’s 100th radar across the world.

Morocco received the radar back in July of this year, following a 2019 contract between Thales Group and the Royal Moroccan Air Force. The previous order was placed in 2013.
Easily deployable, tactical radars such as the Ground Master 400 have become essential assets for the long-range detection of threats evolving at low altitude, says the group in a press release.
Thales specifies that since the initial supply in 2010, the Ground Master radar range has constantly adapted to new threats, in particular drones capable of operating at low altitudes. Its digital architecture has enabled it to evolve and anticipate the transformation of threats.
Ground Master radars are among the best in their class, with exceptional sales figures, as evidenced by the 24 units sold in the year 2020 alone.
Designed for unprecedented deployability and survivability, GM’s long and medium-reach versions are housed in a compact 20ft (6m) container with an integrated lifting system and can be redeployed very quickly. The GM400 is also available in a fixed version for countries wishing to build a permanent aerial surveillance infrastructure of their national airspace.
