Morocco will begin a nationwide operation on Tuesday, March 24, to verify the retention of breeding female sheep and goats under a national programme to rebuild livestock herds, the Agriculture Ministry said.
The move is being carried out under royal instructions and follows an earlier census and identification campaign conducted between June 26 and Aug. 11, 2025, during which the animals were tagged, the ministry said in a statement.
The operation will be coordinated by the Agriculture Ministry with the Interior Ministry and the Economy and Finance Ministry through local committees deployed across provinces and prefectures.
It will rely on data collected during the national livestock census and the identification process.
Once authorities verify that the registered breeding females have been maintained, the second tranche of state aid will be paid as quickly as possible using the same payment mechanisms as in the first phase, the ministry said.
That second payment will complete the implementation of the support program
