King Mohammed VI received Mustapha Baitas, minister delegate for relations with Parliament and government spokesperson, on Friday following the opening of Morocco’s new legislative term.
Baitas presented the King with the government’s report on its relations with Parliament during the fifth and final legislative year of the 11th Legislature.
The presentation closes the institutional reporting cycle for the previous parliamentary term as the newly elected House of Representatives begins the 12th Legislature following the Sept. 23 elections.
King Mohammed VI earlier Friday chaired the opening of the new legislature and delivered a speech setting out priorities for the coming political cycle, including economic growth, youth employment, regional governance and administrative deconcentration.
The government-Parliament report covers the executive’s interaction with both chambers during the final legislative year, including parliamentary oversight and government participation in legislative proceedings.
