Bank Al-Maghrib published two new research papers Friday examining central bank digital currencies and their potential implications for Morocco.
The first paper, titled “Central Bank Digital Currency: Stakes and Lessons for Morocco,” explores the challenges and lessons the country could draw from the development of digital currencies issued by central banks.
The second, “A Small Open Economy Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Model Incorporating the Central Bank Digital Currency Option,” examines how a digital currency could be incorporated into an economic model of a small, open economy.
The bank published both papers in French and English on its website under the publications and research section.
The studies share findings from Bank Al-Maghrib researchers with academics and the public, the institution said.
The central bank added that making the research available aims to enrich debate on economic and financial issues and strengthen ties with universities and research institutions.
