The Confederation of African Football condemned “unacceptable” incidents during the CAF Champions League group stage match between Al Ahly SC and AS FAR at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, and said it has referred the case to its disciplinary body for investigation.
In a statement published on its website, CAF said the matter had been sent to the competent disciplinary committee and that anyone found to be involved would face sanctions under its regulations.
The match ended 0 0, but reports said AS FAR players were pelted with bottles and other projectiles as they headed to the dressing room at halftime. One bottle struck AS FAR player Ahmed Hamoudan, in scenes that drew criticism as damaging to the image of the continental competition.
Reports also said AS FAR supporters faced harassment inside the stadium, despite the result not changing either side’s position in the group standings.
