The Confederation of African Football will review FIFA’s plan to open part of its World Cup business to private investors at an executive committee meeting next week.
CAF said it had received correspondence from FIFA on the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise, which is being discussed with all 211 member associations and the FIFA Council.
CAF president Patrice Motsepe will convene the meeting to assess the proposal, which has prompted concern among some football officials over outside investment in FIFA’s commercial operations.
The African body urged its member federations to examine the plan and participate in the consultation process.
CAF said it would continue talks with FIFA, other continental confederations and stakeholders to identify ways of increasing funding for football development.
The proposal has also faced opposition in Europe, where UEFA called an emergency meeting as concerns grew over the governance and long-term implications of selling stakes linked to the World Cup business.
