Residents of the Taysir neighborhood in the Oulad Ziane district experienced a night of chaos on Sunday after a group of undocumented migrants reportedly caused public disorder and damaged private property.
Security services in the Fidaa-Mers Sultan district were mobilized to contain the unrest and arrest suspects involved in the disturbances.
According to local authorities, some of the migrants, reportedly armed with knives, attacked vehicles parked on the street and moving traffic, causing material damage and widespread panic among residents. At least three people were injured by stones thrown at their cars and were transported to hospitals for treatment.
Police were able to arrest one suspect, while instructions were issued to cordon off the area and conduct extensive searches to apprehend other participants.
The incident sparked concern among local residents and taxi drivers, who called for measures to control the presence of undocumented migrants in Oulad Ziane and Derb Mila, citing safety risks for women and children. Residents also noted that the migrants’ presence in public parks has limited access for local citizens.
An investigation is underway under the supervision of the public prosecutor to identify all individuals involved and determine appropriate legal actions. Authorities continue to probe the circumstances and underlying causes of the incident.
