Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech is on the verge of joining Spanish club Elche on a free transfer, Spanish daily AS reported Wednesday. The move comes after the 32-year-old winger ended his brief stint with Qatar’s Al Duhail and remained without a club this summer.
Elche have reportedly advanced negotiations and are close to finalizing the deal, fending off competition from Turkish and Arab clubs that made more lucrative financial offers. Sources said Ziyech opted for La Liga to regain visibility and competitive rhythm.
The former Chelsea playmaker is seeking to revive his career after unconvincing spells at Galatasaray, Al Duhail, and a difficult final stretch in London. His lack of playing time has also kept him out of recent Morocco squads.
National coach Walid Regragui confirmed last week that Ziyech remains in his plans once he regains fitness and club stability.
