Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir issued a direct threat to Moroccan footballer Hakim Ziyech following the player’s public support for the Palestinian cause.
The controversy began after Ziyech shared an image of Ben-Gvir on Instagram celebrating the Knesset’s approval of a law related to the execution of Palestinian prisoners, questioning whether the move would again be framed as “self-defense.”
Ben-Gvir responded swiftly and sharply, accusing Ziyech of antisemitism and stating that “an anti-Semitic player cannot give moral lessons to Israel,” adding that the state would no longer act cautiously toward those he described as its “enemies.”
Ziyech has repeatedly expressed support for Palestinians, with his statements and social media activity drawing widespread attention beyond football and amplifying his influence in the public debate surrounding the conflict.
