The Executive Office of the Joint Committee for the Defense of Islamist Detainees has reported receiving a complaint from the family of Moroccan citizen Reda Mohamed Aymen, who has allegedly been held in Niger’s Koutoukali prison for over a year without trial.
According to a statement issued by the committee, Aymen is enduring dire conditions behind bars. The family claims he suffers from severe malnutrition, surviving only on minimal food portions described as barely enough to keep him alive. In addition, they report a complete lack of access to medical care.
The family voiced strong criticism of what they described as the inaction of the Moroccan embassy in Niger, lamenting its absence from their son’s legal ordeal and failure to advocate for his rights or well-being.
In its closing remarks, the statement included a direct appeal from the detainee’s family to Moroccan authorities. They urged immediate diplomatic intervention to secure Reda Mohamed Aymen’s repatriation and to guarantee his access to basic human rights, including proper food, medical treatment, and humane conditions, until his safe return to Morocco is ensured.
