A Moroccan woman and an Algerian woman were killed when an attack targeted Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia, according to a statement released Wednesday, October 7, 2026, by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
The strike on Abha International Airport, which took place between October 6 and 7, also left 28 people injured, including Saudi citizens as well as Bangladeshi and Filipino residents, with injuries ranging from minor to critical.
A separate attack targeted King Khalid International Airport during the same period, resulting in the death of a Sudanese resident and injuring eight others—five Saudi nationals, two Egyptian residents, and one Pakistani resident.
GACA stated that emergency response teams responded immediately in accordance with established protocols. All injured individuals were transported to hospitals for medical care. While both attacks caused property damage, GACA confirmed it is coordinating with relevant authorities to assess the impact, verify facility safety, and ensure the continued security of passenger operations within the Kingdom’s civil aviation network.
