The body of a 25-year-old Moroccan woman killed in a reported Houthi drone attack in the Saudi city of Abha was laid to rest in Mecca on Sunday, Oct. 11, following funeral prayers at the Grand Mosque.
The funeral procession took the body of Ahlam Bouken to Al-Ma’la Cemetery in Mecca, according to images documenting the ceremony.

Her sister, Iman Bouken, described the family’s shock at learning of her death, saying the day had begun as usual before the family received a call from the hospital asking them to come because a woman had died.
“We were sitting normally. The day had passed like any other day. Then the hospital called and told us to come because there was a deceased woman here,” she said.
Iman thanked Saudi Arabia’s authorities and the Moroccan consulate for their support following the incident.

“I thank the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and I thank the Moroccan consulate, which stood by me,” she said, adding that local, security and health authorities in the Asir region had helped the family.
Bouken had been preparing to return to Morocco on a flight from Abha to Jeddah, before continuing to Casablanca, when she was killed by shrapnel from an attack targeting Abha International Airport, according to earlier reporting by Hespress.
The incident occurred on her 25th birthday. She was buried in Mecca after funeral arrangements were completed.
