Al Barid Bank and Barid Cash officially unveiled “Barid Payment Mobile,” a new digital tool that allows merchants to accept card payments directly through smartphones equipped with NFC, eliminating the need for traditional payment terminals.

Positioned as the first banking group in Morocco to introduce such a system, the initiative aligns with national goals of financial inclusion and digital transformation, particularly targeting small businesses, artisans, and professionals in remote or rural areas.

“This solution makes electronic payments accessible to all merchants, no matter how remote, reinforcing our commitment to local economic development and digital equity,” said Al Amine Nejjar, chair of Al Barid Bank’s management board.

Barid Payment Mobile offers an intuitive, secure setup process through a downloadable app, and complies with international contactless payment standards. The launch consolidates the group’s role as a citizen-focused and innovation-driven financial actor in Morocco’s evolving digital economy.
