Fez incident: Airline reassures public after safe crew recovery

A private jet operated by AIR OCEAN MAROC overran the runway at Fez Airport on April 11, coming to a halt after striking the facility’s perimeter fence, the airline said in a statement.

The aircraft, a Hawker 800, landed without immediate issues but was unable to fully stop on the runway for reasons that remain under investigation. There were no passengers aboard the flight, and the three crew members—two pilots and a flight attendant—were transported to a hospital for precautionary medical checks. All were later released in stable condition.

An official investigation is being carried out in coordination with local authorities and Morocco’s civil aviation accident bureau (BEA). As of now, no mechanical malfunction has been confirmed.

In its statement, AIR OCEAN MAROC criticized media reports that labeled the event a “crash,” calling such descriptions inaccurate and misleading. The company reiterated that the incident did not meet the criteria of a crash and urged media outlets to report responsibly.

The airline confirmed that its operations remain unaffected, with all scheduled flights continuing as planned. “We remain fully committed to the highest standards of safety and professionalism,” the statement said.

AIR OCEAN MAROC pledged to release further updates as the investigation advances.
