The Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Morocco has announced the postponement of the fourth International Conference on Public Health in Africa, originally scheduled for November 2024 in response to an official request from Dr. Jean Cassia, Director-General of the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), during a visit to the Kingdom.
Cassia cited the health challenges facing the continent due to the ongoing MPOX outbreak, which has affected various countries, including Morocco.
He emphasized the need for intensive efforts and international cooperation to control the epidemic given the current health conditions.
The Moroccan government agreed to postpone the conference to prioritize addressing the MPOX crisis.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to strengthening health cooperation with African countries and international partners to support efforts to combat health crises and achieve health sovereignty on the continent.
The new date for the conference will be announced in coordination with the African Union and the African CDC.
