Al Moutmir, a development initiative launched by OCP in 2018, is celebrating its 5th anniversary. The initiative focuses on supporting Moroccan farmers, particularly smallholders, by providing them with innovative and customized solutions.
As Al Moutmir marks this milestone, they’ve announced significant advancements in their programs and partnerships. These advancements aim to further strengthen their impact on the Moroccan agricultural sector.
The initiative has expanded its service offerings to better support farmers throughout the agricultural cycle, including demonstration platforms, a direct seeding program, and capacity building initiatives. They’ve increased the number of demonstration platforms and launched the “Agritrial” app to facilitate data collection and sharing.
Customized training programs are being conducted to equip farmers, women in agriculture, cooperatives, and young leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge. The “Minassat attakwin 3an Bou3d” digital training platform is also being utilized to reach a wider audience.
Fertilizer manufacturers and distributors, along with OCP’s Local Market Sales Directorate, have maintained their ISO 9001:2015 certification for the second consecutive year, demonstrating their commitment to providing high-quality fertilizer products to farmers.
New projects are underway to improve transparency and sustainability in the fertilizer market. The “Daman Samad” project tracks NPK blend fertilizer bags using smart packaging, ensuring product authenticity. The NPK blend fertilizer is a type of fertilizer that combines Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K), the three primary macronutrients that are crucial for plant growth.
Another project is mapping NPK blend fertilizer sales outlets across the country.
The Moroccan market is embracing customized NPK blend fertilizers, with over 3,500 tailor-made formulas produced to date. Al Moutmir is also actively involved in promoting conservation agriculture practices and exploring carbon farming opportunities.
The direct seeding program has been expanded, and a partnership with INNOVX has been established to implement the pilot phase of the Tourba project, the first Carbon Farming initiative in Morocco.
Al Moutmir has made significant contributions to the Moroccan agricultural sector over the past five years. They’ve directly supported over 28,330 farmers and indirectly reached over 400,000 through digital solutions.
