In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Morocco on Friday evening, leaving over 2,000 people dead and hundreds injured, many of them seriously, the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, offered his condolences to Moroccans.
In messages published Sunday in 3 languages on the official Facebook page of the government presidency, the head of the Executive recalled the tragic event that the Kingdom is experiencing, affirming that the government “associates itself with the grief of the families of the deceased and assures the injured and their loved ones of the support of the entire Nation”.
After recalling the high royal instructions to mobilize all State services to help the population, he stressed that “the call has been heard, and a crisis center has been set up under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior.”
The Head of Government, who paid tribute to “the emergency commitment of all, men and women alike, with the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, Civil Protection and other relevant services at the forefront”, felt that “this ordeal must unite us, in a spirit of collective commitment”, and the spontaneous solidarity shown by Moroccans, notably by flocking en masse to transfusion centers to donate blood.
“The government will continue to implement the high royal instructions to monitor and support relief efforts to ensure that operations run smoothly,” he concluded.
