Influencer accused of misusing funds intended for Moroccan orphanage

Renowned influencer, Poupette Kenza, finds herself at the center of a new controversy.

She is accused of promoting and then diverting funds from a fundraising campaign originally intended for an orphanage in Morocco.

Poupette Kenza is facing allegations of breach of trust and misappropriation of funds, prompting the Moroccan association Atlas Kinder to announce its intention to file a complaint, According to Le Parisien

The association, which manages an orphanage in Morocco, accuses the influencer, whose real name is Kenza Benchrif, and her cousin, influencer Soukaïna El Mizeb, of not fully transferring the collected amount as intended.

These two complaints are expected to be filed by the end of the week, according to the media’s sources.

The case began in early June when Poupette Kenza, claiming to be moved after visiting a Moroccan orphanage, raised a funding campaign  on the platform CotizUp to support the association.

The collection was managed by another organization, the Bel Niya association, which claims to work in collaboration with around twenty associations across Africa.

With Poupette Kenza’s popularity, the operation was successful, with over 16,000 contributions. The problem arose when, out of the announced 200,000 euros, only 28,000 euros were offered to the orphanage.

Under pressure, the Bel Niya association, responsible for the collection, eventually agreed to transfer slightly over 134,000 euros to Atlas Kinder, without clearly specifying what would happen to the remaining amount

Poupette Kenza addressed the controversy through several posts on Snapchat, expressing her frustration.

“I’m being attacked, defamed, humiliated, all for clicks, and I can’t accept it,” she responded after sharing a photo of herself giving the middle finger.
