Bagayoko Teneba Latifati, a Cote d’Ivoire citizen who had been missing since April 4 this year, and who had been intensively looked for, was found on April 15 in Tan-Tan, Morocco, on the country’s west coast.
The woman is six months pregnant, traveling with two young children, and had intended to cross the Mediterranean to reach Europe, according to a statement sent on Wednesday to the Ivorian press agency by Sam Wakouboué Dago, the spokesperson for the Ministry of State responsible for foreign affairs, African integration, and the diaspora.
According to the press release, Bagayoko claimed that she had made the difficult decision to leave Cote d’Ivoire and relocate abroad in order to escape the ups and downs of her unhappy marriage.
She decided to continue traveling no matter what because she did not want to go back to her home country.
The same source reported that the head of the Ivorian diplomatic mission in Morocco, Idrissa Traoré, convinced Bagayoko to give up her plan, promising her “that her cause, which has already been taken up by the highest Ivorian authorities, will have a happy outcome as soon as she arrives in Abidjan.”
According to the Ministry of State’s press release, the ambassador of the Ivory Coast in Morocco is working to organize the return trip of the three members of the family as soon as possible in accordance with the instructions of Minister of State Kandia Camara, who is personally involved in this case.
