The epidemiological situation of COVID-19 in Morocco remains stable and controllable, said the coordinator at the National Center for Emergency Operations of Public Health of the Ministry, Mouad Merabet on his LinkedIn account April 3.

For the second week, Morocco recorded a discreet increase in cases, the health official stated.

As for the weekly positivity rate, 75 more cases were recorded this week compared to last week, with a reproduction rate of 1.3%, which exceeded 1% last week.

Variability between regions was observed this week ranging from 00% in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region to 3.5% in the Casablanca-Settat region, he added.

New severe COVID cases and deaths continued to decrease in the country, with 16 new admissions to intensive care units, while 26 people left intensive care after improvement of their situation and only 3 deaths.

The next two weeks will bring more visibility on the evolution of the COVID situation in the country, he stated.

The health official called on people to respect preventive measures, especially in gathering places, Tarawih prayers, indoor places, administrations, public transport, and stadiums.

Merabet also urged people to receive booster shots, mainly for those with underlying conditions, he concluded in his LinkedIn post.
