Morocco placed 2nd in Africa with the highest Gasoline fuel prices, reaching $1.13 a liter, said a recent report released by the crowd-sourced global database of quality of life information Numbeo.
Morocco ranked 2nd in Africa ($1.13 a liter), ahead of Kenya 3rd ($1.12 a liter), Mauritius 4th ($1.09 a liter), Ghana 5th ($0.95 a liter), Bostwana 6th ($0.87 a liter), and Tunisia 7th ($0.72 a liter).
Nigeria placed 8th ($0.39 a liter), followed by Egypt in 9th position ($0.38 a liter), with Algeria as the country with the cheapest pricing of Gasoline fuel in the continent ($0.30 a liter).
South Africa leads the continent with the highest Gasoline fuel prices, amounting to ($1.41 a liter), ahead of Morocco.
Globally, Morocco takes 58 spot out of 107 countries, with Hong Kong topping the ranking as the country with the highest Gasoline prices worldwide ($2.51 a liter), ahead of Finland 2nd ($2.46 a liter), and Germany ($2.44 a liter).
Algeria came last with the cheapest Gasoline fuel prices worldwide ($0.30 a liter) because of the country’s rich gas resources.
Fuel prices have soared in recent months because of an international context marked by inflation and crisis.
Currently, Morocco is witnessing the highest increase in fuel prices in its entire history, with prices jumping up to MAD 14 a liter, for both diesel and gasoline.
