Landings of small pelagic fish at Morocco’s Tan-Tan port rose 151% to about 98,000 metric tons between January 1 and September 15, local fisheries delegate Rachid Kassi said.
The total compared with 39,000 tons during the same period in 2025. Sardines accounted for approximately 99.8% of the small pelagic catch, making them the main driver of the increase.
The figures placed Tan-Tan second among Moroccan ports for small pelagic fish landings, behind Laayoune, Kassi said.
Whitefish landings at the port’s fish market reached approximately 16,000 tons, worth 628 million dirhams.
Octopus landings increased 3%, while cuttlefish volumes rose 54% and squid landings grew 25% compared with the same period last year, according to the figures he provided.
