Morocco’s dirham weakened by 0.3% against the euro and 1.5% against the US dollar between September 17 and 23, Bank Al-Maghrib said in its latest weekly indicators bulletin.
The central bank said it carried out no foreign-exchange auctions during the period.
Official reserve assets stood at MAD 503 billion on September 18, up 0.6% from the previous week and 21% from a year earlier.
Bank Al-Maghrib’s interventions averaged MAD 149.6 billion per day, including MAD 54.2 billion in seven-day advances, MAD 48.5 billion in longer-term repurchase agreements and MAD 46.9 billion in secured loans.
On the interbank market, average daily trading reached MAD 3.5 billion, with the interbank rate at 2.25%.
The MASI stock index gained 0.3% between September 18 and 23, although it remained down 4.3% since the start of the year. Trading volume fell to MAD 1.3 billion from MAD 1.6 billion a week earlier.
