Senegal won on Sunday the African Cup of Nations for the first time after beating Egypt 4-2 in penalty kicks.
The game saw the continent’s two best players Senegalese Sadio Mane and Egyptian Mohamed Salah face off.
Original and extra time ended with a score of 0-0.
Egypt was looking to score an eight-cup at the tournament. Senegal reached the finals in 2019 but lost to Algeria.
The game, which wrapped up four weeks of competition in Yaounde, began with a moment of silence to honor the recent tragedy of Moroccan boy Rayan.
Egyptian and Senegalese teams will meet again in March, in two matches in the decisive round of qualifiers for the World Cup 2022.
