The Ministry of higher education has imposed sanctions against administration members in the case of sexual harassment of female students of the National School of Business and Management (ENCG) Oujda.
The Ministry has urged the director of ENCGO to submit his resignation, while the professor accused of extorting his students for passing grades has been suspended.
Mandated by Minister Abdellatif Miraoui, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Mohamed Khalfaoui, has sent a letter to the President of the University Mohammed I of Oujda in which he communicates the decisions taken against the professor accused of sexual harassment and 3 members of the school’s management.
The letter notes that the decisions come after the report of the general inspection and that the ministry has decided to suspend Professor Bilal Bourkha from his duties as head of the management department and professor. He will have to appear before a disciplinary board as a matter of urgency.
The department of Abdellatif Miraoui has additionally decided to relieve the deputy director of her duties. In addition, she will have to explain her refusal to deal with complaints of sexual harassment before a special committee attached to the Ministry.
The Secretary-General of ENCGO has also been relieved of his duties for inaptitude to the responsibilities assigned to him.
In addition, the ministry urged the school’s director to resign “immediately” and raised the possibility of opening an investigation into several other ENCGO professors cited in the inspectorate’s report who is suspected of sexual harassment.
