A number of schools will open exceptionally this weekend as well as the settlement of vaccination centers inside of these schools in order to ensure a safe return to studies on October 1.
The decision comes as the country races to get students aged 12-17 fully vaccinated before the start of studies.
In this regard, the Regional Directorate of Education and Training in the Casablanca-Settat region called on all students’ parents and tutors to accompany their children to these vaccination centers on Saturday and Sunday, so that they would be able to receive their vaccine shots.
“Schools have been designated for carrying out the vaccination process as well as the type of vaccine used in each center,” according to a statement of the regional directorate to Hespress.
For his part, Moulay Said Afif, a member of the scientific committee on vaccination, told Hespress that this step aims to speed up the vaccination pace in order to ensure a safe return to schools for both students and educational staff.
“This step will enable students to attend in-person classes, unlike the previous season, where studies used to be held remotely or alternately,” he added.
Last year, students used to have their studies remotely via educational websites such as Telmid tice and Massar.
“The in-person classes have many advantages, including students’ achievement as well as the impact on their psychic, unlike remote classes, that’s why the country works on speeding up the vaccination process,” he continued.
“A number of students have received their first shot but failed to receive the second one, which requires parents to accompany their children to vaccination centers in order to achieve the immune system, noting that only one shot does not prevent against the COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.
The Ministry of National Education continues to urge parents to accompany their children to vaccination centers in order to get fully vaccinated ahead of the start of studies, also parents are expected to receive text messages for this aim.
At least 700,000 teens aged 12 to 17 have received their first shot of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine since the inclusion of this age group in the national vaccination campaign, according to Hespress sources.
