Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) updated its orange weather alert Wednesday evening, warning that heavy thunderstorms, hail and strong wind gusts could affect 18 provinces across northern, eastern and central Morocco until 11 p.m.
The revised bulletin forecasts rainfall of between 20 and 35 millimeters from 3 p.m. Wednesday, extending the warning to areas including Taourirt and Jerada as unsettled weather continues across the country.
The affected provinces are Tangier-Assilah, Fahs-Anjra, M’diq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Larache, Chefchaouen, Ouezzane, Al Hoceima, Nador, Driouch, Berkane, Taourirt, Jerada, Taza, Taounate, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem and Al Haouz.
The updated warning follows earlier forecasts covering a wider area of Morocco, where several inland provinces have already recorded substantial rainfall this week.
