West Med Container Terminal (WMCT), a subsidiary of Marsa Maroc and TIL and the concessionaire of the East Terminal at Nador West Med port, announced on Thursday the completion of the terminal’s operational readiness and confirmed its capacity to receive and handle its first commercial calls.
“WMCT has met, ahead of the initial schedule, all the conditions required to commence operations at the East Terminal. This operational readiness involved the completion of infrastructure works, the delivery and installation of equipment, the deployment of systems, the implementation of operational processes, as well as the recruitment and training of teams,” the company said in a statement.
To test all the resources mobilized under real-life conditions, the East Terminal hosted a test call, which made it possible to validate the operation, coordination and efficiency of the various processes.
The successful completion of the East Terminal’s operational trials marks the culmination of several months of preparations and confirms the terminal’s capacity to accommodate the world’s largest container ships, thereby reinforcing Nador West Med port’s role as a strategic hub in the Mediterranean.
