Landings from coastal and artisanal fishing at ports along the Mediterranean reached 10,995 tonnes at the end of July 2026, up 8% compared with the same period of the previous year, according to the National Fisheries Office (ONP).
In value terms, however, these landings fell by 10% to more than 427.40 million dirhams during the first seven months of 2026, compared with the same period a year earlier (474.15 MDH), the ONP said in its latest report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco.
By species, the quantities of pelagic fish landed at these ports, located along the coast from Tangier to Saïdia, increased by 37% to 5,040 T at the end of last July, with an estimated value of more than 104.51 MDH (+3%), compared with more than 101.88 MDH for 3,682 T at the end of July 2025.
Landings of white fish, meanwhile, reached 2,145 T at the end of last July (+39%), worth around 71 MDH (+13%), compared with 62.55 MDH for 1,547 T a year earlier.
As for cephalopod landings, they declined by 17% to 3,029 T, generating revenues of more than 204.30 MDH (-19%), while crustacean landings increased by 2% to 717 T, generating revenues of more than 46.83 MDH (-13%).
At the national level, landings of marketed products from coastal and artisanal fishing stood at 551,547 T at the end of last July, up 5% compared with the same period of the previous year.
In value terms, these landings increased by 2% to more than 6.28 billion dirhams (MMDH), compared with 6.15 MMDH a year earlier.
