General Directorate for National Security launched new police facilities on Saturday in Tinghir and Casablanca as part of events marking the agency’s 70th anniversary.

The newly opened facilities include a second police district in Tinghir and a mobile emergency police unit attached to the Casablanca police headquarters, in line with the national police strategy aimed at expanding security coverage and bringing police services closer to citizens.

Authorities said the new police district in Tinghir, located in the city’s administrative quarter, was designed to strengthen local security coverage and improve public access to police services through upgraded infrastructure and modern equipment.

In Casablanca, the new mobile emergency response unit will support the city’s central command and coordination center through around the clock patrol operations running seven days a week. The unit is equipped with motorcycles and rapid intervention vehicles designed to improve response times in dense urban areas.

Police said the teams would receive emergency calls directly and intervene immediately on the ground, with response times monitored continuously by regional and central security services.

The launch forms part of a broader modernization program pursued in recent years by Moroccan police authorities to upgrade security infrastructure, improve working conditions for officers and enhance reception and administrative services for the public.

Morocco’s police services have accelerated investments in digitalization, rapid response systems and urban security infrastructure as part of wider reforms tied to population growth and urban expansion across major cities.
