Moroccan police arrested a 31-year-old Swedish national in Agadir who is wanted internationally in connection with an alleged attempted murder, authorities said Saturday.
The arrest was carried out Friday by officers from Agadir’s judicial police department in coordination with Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance.
An identity check showed that the man was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Swedish judicial authorities and an Interpol Red Notice requested by Sweden, according to Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security.
The man is suspected of involvement in a case involving attempted intentional murder, authorities said.
He was placed under extradition proceedings on instructions from the competent public prosecutor’s office.
Morocco’s Interpol office in Rabat, which operates under the General Directorate of National Security, was tasked with notifying its Swedish counterpart of the arrest as the extradition process proceeds.
