Moroccan fighter Youssef Zalal loses key UFC opportunity against former champion sterling

Moroccan fighter Youssef Zalal suffered a major setback in the biggest opportunity of his UFC career on April 25, as former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling defeated him by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Sterling vs. Zalal.

The bout marked Zalal’s first UFC main event and was widely seen as a breakthrough moment for the featherweight contender, who entered the fight riding strong momentum and hoping to move into title contention.

Facing Sterling, one of the most experienced fighters in the promotion and a former world champion, Zalal had a chance to prove himself against elite competition on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
