A recent report by Modern Diplomacy emphasized that Morocco’s hosting of AFCON 2025 demonstrates the Kingdom’s ability to integrate sport, diplomacy, security, and the economy within a clear state strategy.

The report, titled “AFCON 2025: Sports Geostrategy as Morocco’s Strategic Signature,” noted that AFCON 2025 is more than a tournament.

It is a geopolitical statement on the road to the 2030 World Cup, showing how Morocco uses sport, vision, and institutional continuity to shape African influence and set the pace for the continent’s future.

It said that the event reflects a reinforced form of sovereignty, where sport serves as a tool for geopolitical influence, development, and a recognized capacity for international action.

The report recalled that “the sporting event is no longer a simple spectacle but a testing ground for power, where strategic coherence, organizational mastery, and political reliability are measured.”

It noted that AFCON 2025 demonstrates Morocco’s ability to manage human, symbolic, and media flows, transforming sport into a tool of governance that reveals “the state’s institutional solidity and strategic depth.”

The report added that Morocco’s selection as host reflects recognition of a state capable of “combining security, political hospitality, logistics mastery, and continuity, turning the tournament into a stable arena that symbolically reshapes African leadership.”

From an African perspective, the source said that Morocco’s approach aims to organize the continental game and promote balanced, cooperative leadership based on inclusion, partnership, and co-production rather than prescription or domination.

AFCON 2025 also drives investment in stadiums, transport, hospitality, and urban services, strengthening Morocco’s hosting capacity for the medium and long term, especially for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and reinforcing its role as a sustainable regional platform.

The report emphasized that the organization of AFCON 2025 is a geo-sporting moment of truth.

It shows that modern power lies not only in economic or military strength but in a state’s ability to manage complexity, build trust, and turn sport into a lasting political infrastructure of peace and credibility at both the African and international levels.
